NY Governor Cuomo Praises President Trump

NY Governor Cuomo Praises President Trump

New York has responded "very diligently and very strong" in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, President Trump said at Thursday's coronavirus task force press briefing. The Empire State is one of the hardest hit in the country, having now over 4,000 confirmed cases. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has ordered schools and businesses to close as they try to mitigate the spread of the disease. In
more than one press conference, he acknowledged and thanked the president for having New Yorkers' backs and speeding them the resources they need.
"We're fighting the same war," Cuomo said. "And this is a war. And we're in the same trench. And I have your back, you have my back. And we're going to do everything we can for the people of the state of New York. And the president agreed to that. And I agreed to that. And his actions demonstrate that he is doing that."
Trump sent the Army Corps of Engineers to New York earlier this week as a way to try and help hospitals before they become overwhelmed with patients.
"I can tell you he is fully engaged in trying to help New York," Cuomo said, thanking him.
Trump returned some of the compliments at Thursday's White House coronavirus task force briefing.
"Andrew Cuomo's been really very generous," he said of the governor, also confirming that the two have had very effective conversations.
More than one person was happy to see this bit of badly needed bipartisanship.
The president has also spoken highly of late of the cooperation he's getting from California Gov. Gavin Newsom, another of his usual sparring partners.
