Former NFL Player Allegedly Attempts to Frame Trump Supporters by Wrecking His Own Restaurant

Former NFL Player Allegedly Attempts to Frame Trump Supporters by Wrecking His Own Restaurant

Between 2012 and 2016, Edawn Louis Coughman played for the Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys, and Arizona Cardinals.
Nice resume.
Now he’s added something a little different.
According to the Daily News, the former pro football player was caught vandalizing his own Georgia restaurant, possibly in an effort to vilify Trump supporters.
The DN reports a “maintenance worker at the shopping plaza where Coughman’s establishment is located saw someone burglarizing the restaurant around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday and called the cops.”
Nearby, police pulled over a black truck with no plate. In it was Edawn and several flat-screen TV’s.
As described by Cpl. Michele Pihera of the Gwinnett County Police Department, the televisions’ “brackets were still attached and there was still drywall attached to the brackets, meaning, someone took them off very quickly.”
Cops at the Create and Bake Restaurant and Coughman’s Creamery on Duluth Highway found holes in the wall where the appliances had been removed, along with racist Republican graffiti — “monkey,” the N-word…and MAGA.

Does this guy watch Empire?
Officials pegged the paint as fresh, and Edawn had spray paint on his hands.
Hmmm…
I’m no super sleuth, but…

More from WSBTV:
They still aren’t sure why Coughman may have targeted his own business.
“We don’t know if it was financial motivation or what the case is,” Pihera said.
Before the damage was done, Edawn had reported it to insurance:
“He had reported this incident to his insurance company prior to officers conducting that first pull-over,” Pihera said. “He was attempting to leave that shopping center when our officers conducted that felony stop. Everything lined up for this perfect arrest.”
The former pigskin player’s had a few other run-ins: In Canada, as per Reuters, he was arrested for gun possession. And in 2106, his business partner was taken into custody for selling alcohol at the eaterie after hours without a license.
The story could’ve gone full-blown Jussie Smollett, but the guy was caught red-han– that is, black-paint-handed.
Since the election of Donald Trump, cries of racism against those who pulled the lever in his favor have resounded like it’s goin’ outta style. Attempts to frame the President’s supporters with hokey hijinks is certainly doing nothing to improve the national conversation.
But this is where we are.
Another day, another strange batch of news in these United States.
