According to Montagnier, an 'industrial' accident took place in Wuhan National Biosafety Laboratory, since it specializes in these coronaviruses since the early 2000s.
The US has already begun a probe into the matter of the global pandemic being a virus leak. US President Donald Trump said, “More and more, we’re hearing the story. We are doing a very thorough investigation.”
Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, said, “We’re doing a full investigation of everything we can to learn how it is the case that this virus got away, got out into the world and now has created so much tragedy, so much death, here in the US and all around the world.”
He added that the US was well aware of the
fact that the Wuhan lab “contained highly contagious materials.”
Known for controversial statements, Montagnier has had two controversial research studies — electromagnetic waves emitted by DNA (DNA teleportation) and on the benefits of papaya in AIDS or Parkinson's cure. Both were criticized by the scientific community.
However, French virologist, Étienne Simon-Lorière, of the Institut Pasteur in Paris,
nullified Montagnier's claims. He told AFP, “That (His claims) does not make sense. These are very small elements that we find in
other viruses of the same family, other coronaviruses in nature."
This isn't the first time someone has mentioned the theory that the COVID-19 is man-made. Theories about the virus being created by the Chinese government, possibly as a bioweapon to take control of the world, have been doing the
rounds on social media ever since the pandemic came into being.
Medical experts have claimed that there was no way the virus could have been artificially made and that it was an animal-borne disease.
